..where sustainable business makes good business sense
Sustensis has specialized for over 12 years in the area of Business Sustainability, which considers the long-term sustainable growth of a company's turnover and profit as the best assurance for business survival. One of the key messages of Business Sustainability is that for a company to survive in global markets, its business must operate around the long-term growth balance as closely as possible to reduce the overall business risk. The current market turmoil shows the consequences of departuring from that golden rule.
Balancing the company's growth over a longer period means that in some years profits may be lower than the market average, but because its business is better balanced, the company has better chances to outperform the market in the longer-term. That business balance also contributes to the overall lower business risk. Such sustainable long-term growth must of course also include environmental sustainability and ethical behaviour.
Our objective is to help companies make a gradual transition from a short-term to a long-term business growth, to achieve higher sustainable return with lower risk. We support the transition towards business sustainability with over 20 integrated specialist services. They apply our Symbiosa Business Sustainability® approach. Some of our services, such as Business Sustainability Review® or our SYMBIOSA Stakeholder Scorecard® - a Stakeholder-focused version of a classic Balanced Scorecard - aim at a quick delivery of significant business benefits.
Sustensis’ services incorporate best practice of large corporations, exceptionally successful over a longer period, and the vision of people that have fundamentally changed our understanding of what it means to be a successful company. Among the people that have inspired us most is Robert F. Schumacher, especially his concepts of achieving long-term harmony of business and societal needs, best put forward in his seminal work “Small is Beautiful”. The other one is Warren Buffet that has practiced for decades the principles of Business Sustainability for selecting companies for long-term investment.
